Housing for New Hope In A Nutshell
What
Housing for New Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness, one valuable person at a time. During more than eighteen years working with the homeless and those threatened with homelessness, Housing for New Hope has developed a series of housing options and programs for those in need: outreach and engagement, housing and emergency assistance, transitional housing, and permanent housing.
The Mission of Housing for New Hope is to encourage and assist homeless people and other persons in crisis to move toward lives marked by increased levels of stability, dignity, hope and independence.
Why
Housing for New Hope is an organization that looks at the full cycle of homelessness and works to impact it at several touch points. From preventing homelessness by providing emergency assistance to families in crisis to actively reaching out to the homeless asking for money in Durham’s major intersections to providing housing to those in transition, this organization pursues a myriad of paths to ending homelessness in Durham and Orange Counties. This approach coupled with their ability to show success, measure outcomes and articulate program and operational decisions made it a clear choice to bring into the DurhamCares success grant program.
